Frequently asked questions

What is a school expedition?

A school expedition is a carefully planned journey designed to provide students with active learning experiences in different locations. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural world, new cultures, and subjects while fostering personal growth, teamwork, and global awareness.

What do you learn in an expedition?

A lot! Educational expeditions can be life changing, offering a rich learning experience across a variety of subjects. Students can develop skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity. They may learn about diverse ecosystems, historical sites, scientific research, local traditions, and much more.

Where is the best place to go on an expedition?

Well, we think Latin American countries are the finest! They offer extreme diversity, unexplored landscapes, and irreplaceable ecosystems. Some popular choices include exploring the Amazon rainforest, studying marine life in the Galapagos Islands, discovering ancient history in Peru or engaging in community service projects in Colombia.

It’s important to select a destination that aligns with your curriculum and educational goals. And we can help plan your adventure.

Who will be leading the expedition?

Our tour leaders are experts in the field. We can provide bios of each leader from our biologist guides to leading archaeologists and from world-class mountain guides to indigenous leaders.

How many students can go?

We have a minimum of 6 students per trip up to 30 and beyond (we’d divide the group in this case). If you have a group size in mind, just let us know.

What is the best time of year to go on an expedition?

This all depends on where you want to go. Latin American countries experience variable wet and dry seasons so it’s important to coordinate with us in order to pick the right time of year for you.

What is included in a school expedition?

We include everything from the accommodation to the food and tour leaders. We will provide any camping gear or hiking equipment. We don’t include international flights and we require all participants to come with travel insurance.

Where will we be staying?

This depends on the destination you choose. We are dedicated to choosing locally-owned accommodations that give students a feel of traditional life. These include homestays, hostels, guesthouses and of course camping in the wilderness.

School expeditions that do good

We align ourselves to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All our expeditions for schools include hands-on activities with grassroots projects that are positively impacting the SDGs, especially relating to fighting climate change, reducing inequalities, and promoting Human Rights.
