Frequently asked questions

What is a sustainability field trip?

A sustainability field trip is a journey that teaches students about real-world issues relating to the environment and society.

A well-planned field trip will allow students to experience and work with impactful sustainable local projects working to solve global problems. This experience can act as the spark for students to continue their learning of sustainable development in order for them to become impactful global citizens.

What do you learn on a sustainability field trip?

Students will learn how global issues are being solved at a local level. These issues relate to pressing world issues like climate change, Human Rights, Gender Equality, Extreme Poverty and many more. Students will gain real-life experience working with impactful projects and develop the necessary competencies and interdisciplinary skills to positively change society.

Where is the best place to go on a field trip?

You can travel anywhere in the world to find experiences relating to sustainability. It is important to identify the projects, communities, and environments that will impact your students the most. It’s also important to recognise that students are not there to solve issues in other countries and communities. Alternatively you should consider the mantra of Think Global, Act Local.

Who will be leading our field trip?

Our tour leaders are not just guides; they are educators. Your students will learn how to develop interdisciplinary skills under the guidance of our tour leaders. Students will also come face to face with innovative local pioneers, social entrepreneurs, award-winning conservationists, scientists and many more.

How many students can go?

We have a minimum of 6 students per trip up to 30 and beyond (we’d divide the group in this case). If you have a group size in mind, just let us know.

How do I know learning goals will be met?

Our team of experts have developed every sustainability field trip around a Theory of Change, allowing us to measure the impact of each trip. We offer in-depth post-trip impact reports too.

What global issues do students learn about?

Students learn about a variety of global issues on our sustainability field trips. We visit projects aligned to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), these include urban gardening, reforestation, Human Rights, Gender Equality workshops.

What is included in a sustainability field trip?

We include everything from the accommodation to the food and tour leaders. We include project visits, pre and post-trip learning material and also UNLIMITED expert advice afterwards for any students wanting to develop their pathway into sustainable development.

Where will we be staying?

This depends on the destination you choose. We are dedicated to choosing locally-owned accommodations that give students a feel of traditional life. These means students will be staying in hotels, hostels, eco lodges, farms and even local houses.

Think global; act local

Your students will use their invaluable real-life experience visiting impactful sustainable projects as the bedrock of their learning.

We’ll then equip them with problem-solving, communication, design-thinking skills to begin their own project back home.
