Service Learning Trips

Service Learning Trips

Give your students first-hand experience of pressing global issues. Empower them to make positive changes in new destinations. Equip them with the tools and inspiration to become life-long Global Citizens.

Our service learning trips in Latin America connect students with local projects that are working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Students leave with a sense of purpose and, through a specially-designed challenge, will gain the skills to begin their own sustainable project at home.

Students enhance their problem-solving, teamwork, communication and presentation skills – all desired by top universities and future employers.

Develop emotional intelligence

We inspire students to become life-long global citizens who will develop empathy for the natural environment and people.

Experience the world

We merge impactful service learning opportunities with cultural immersion experiences and adventure activities.

Locally-led service project opportunities

Urban gardening in Colombia

Urban gardening in Colombia

On this service learning project in Medellin, students join a local pioneer in maintaining an urban garden in the heart of the city. Students will be challenged to explore problems related to the garden, research and propose innovative solutions and then - under the guidance of locals - implement their ideas.

Protecting marine life in the Galapagos

Protecting marine life in the Galapagos

Students explore why this iconic archipelago is home to some of the most fragile ecosystems on earth. They will join naturalist guides and leading scientists in a variety of conservation projects like reforestation, erasing invasive species and Giant tortoise restoration. Students will also gain a first-hand look at the vital work wildlife conservationists are doing in the Galapagos with a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Center.

Sustainable agriculture in Peru

Sustainable agriculture in Peru

On this service trip, students will immerse into the Quechua native lifestyle and discover traditional ways of agriculture that could shape a more sustainable future. They’ll get their hands dirty as they farm like an Andean local and help build several structures, like greenhouses, aimed at helping the community expand their productions.

Reforestation in Ecuador’s Amazon

Reforestation in Ecuador’s Amazon

Service learning trips don’t get more impactful than helping locals reforest areas of the Amazon rainforest. Students will join our inspirational local Omar Tello, who has taken it upon himself to plant vast swathes of forest in areas that had been deforested. As well as transporting and planting trees, students will put their minds to use as they delve into the root causes of deforestation and ways they can help protect native forests through climate activism.

Protecting coastlines and mangroves in Colombia

Protecting coastlines & mangroves in Colombia

Students head to Colombia’s caribbean coast to learn about the importance of protecting coastlines and mangroves. Joining our local partners in Santa Marta, students will engage in beach clean ups and take part in recycling projects. Then, they’ll travel along the coast to a leading university where they will learn about the global effect of diminishing mangroves. This service experience concludes with a canoe ride among this remarkable ecosystem with students helping to restore depleted areas.

What our service trips are:

Truly impactful

We deliver detailed post-trip impact reports showing how we have met (and exceeded) learning objectives.

Locally-led

While we facilitate service learning, it’s our long-term local partners who will take the lead.

Aligned to the SDGs

Service projects align to themes like Responsible Consumption, Climate Change, Human Rights, Protecting Marine Life, and much more.

What our service trips are NOT:

A one-off gimmick

We aim to inspire life-long service traits within your students, not just during their trip with us.

A show with no impact

Forget “white saviour” complex. Students are not there to “save” anyone or anything but to offer genuine service.

Done without any impact measurement

We ensure all our local partner projects have a working impact report that demonstrates their value.

Purpose-driven service learning trips

Service learning trips are an opportunity for students to gain a greater understanding of global issues whilst joining impactful local projects that work to bring positive change.

Our programs are aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals with students joining with projects that work towards resolving one or more of the 17 Global Goals.
