Example Itinerary

Day 1: Arrivals

Your dedicated Kagumu tour guides will meet you at Iquito’s airport and take you directly to your accommodation. Students enjoy an orientation tour in the city and an intro to the program.

Day 2: Rescue Center & Market Challenge

In the morning students visit a local market, taking part in our unique Kagumu Market Challenge before they experience how a rescue center is helping to resorte certain animal populations in the Amazon. Overnight in Iquitos.

Day 3: Transfer to Amazon rainforest eco lodge

Students journey deep into the Amazon and to their stunning eco lodge, where they will stay for the next few days. Along the way the group will witness pink dolphins and enjoy a jungle walk. Overnight in Amazon eco lodge.

Day 4: Science work in the Amazon

Under the guidance of a local scientist, students will take part in an investigative project work that will explore the essential science work done to conserve the native flora and fauna species. This hands-on experience will be followed by an expert-led workshop that explores the role the Amazon has is maintaining life on earth. Overnight in ecolodge.

Day 5: Cultural immersion

Today students will experience what human life is when living in the Amazon. We join our partners in a local native reserve as they teach the group about their way of life, how they hunt, what they believe in, and how they live in harmony with nature. Overnight in ecolodge.

Day 6: Monkey island visit

Before heading back to Iquitos, students visit Monkey Island where they will witness monkeys in the wild. They will also get to swim in the river for one last time! Overnight in Iquitos.

Day 7: Departures

We take students back to the airport in plenty of time for their flight back to their home country.

Iquitos: While in Iquitos the group will stay in a comfortable and secure hostel, 3 blocks from the main square in Iquitos. The size of the group will determine which of our selected hotels or hostels we use.

Amazon: You and your students will get the chance to immerse into Amazonian life by enjoying a three-night stay in Amak Lodge along the Amazon River. Students and teachers will stay in shared cabins or bungalows with private bathrooms, shower, and mosquito nets.
