SDG Deep Dive Module
Preparing for Our History & Culture Trip in Peru
The Global Goals
Welcome! This module is your first step toward becoming a global citizen. Before we embark on our journey to Peru, we'll explore the **17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)**, a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future for all. These goals are all interconnected—like a web—and every action we take, no matter how small, can have a ripple effect.

Our Focus in Peru: History & Culture
While we will engage with all 17 goals, our trip will have a specific focus on three key areas. These are the goals we will directly contribute to through our activities and community partnerships.
SDG 4: Quality Education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.
By engaging in cultural workshops and learning from local artisans and community leaders, we support traditional knowledge transfer. Our presence also provides a chance for language and cultural exchange, offering new learning opportunities for both us and our hosts.
SDG 11: Sustainable Communities
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
Our homestays and direct engagement with local families in the Sacred Valley ensure that tourism revenue is distributed directly to the community. We also learn about the resilient, time-honored practices of the Quechua people, from farming to resource management.
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
By using local guides and services, staying in locally-owned accommodations, and purchasing handmade goods directly from artisans, we ensure our travel spending creates a positive, local impact. This model avoids the typical "leakage" of tourism profits.
