Our trip takes place on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. We explore the historical centre of Santa Marta, the beaches of Parque Tayrona, the cloud forests in Minca, the rivers of Don Diego and much more.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrivals

Our team will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel located in Santa Marta’s historical center. Enjoy a walking tour of the historical center and a unique bag weaving workshop with our partners in the Arhuaco indigenous community. You’ll have dinner in the center before resting for the evening.

Day 2: Sailing and snorkelling

Today, you will head out on a private boat to the national park of Tayrona. Here you’ll enjoy a snorkelling activity and some time to rest on the Caribbean beach. We’ll have a fish lunch on the boat before heading back to Santa Marta for the evening.

Day 3: Mountain biking in Minca

Today we head into the cloud forests of Minca for a mountain biking adventure that will take you to a coffee and cacao plantation and to many spectacular waterfalls. After dinner you’ll head further up in the Caribbean jungle to an eco lodge for the evening.

Day 4: Hike to Ciudad Antigua

Starting early, you will begin a walk through Santa Marta’s coastal mountains to an ancient Lost City that holds within it traces back to the Tairona people. Here, you’ll enjoy a home-cooked dinner before sleeping in a reconstructed indigenous house – an truly once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Day 5: Tour an ancient lost city

Today, you’ll learn more about the enchanting traditions of the indigenous communities still living in La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Our native guide will teach you about the clothing, food and sacred beliefs of the communities. You’ll also be able to explore the site on foot, discovering how this site is still being excavated as we speak! We then take a 4×4 down the mountain to the town of Cienaga.

Day 6: Paddle boarding in Cienaga

Join our local partners in a paddle board experience in the languid mangroves of Cienaga. After, you’ll travel by boat to a floating town to discover a community living on the water and also a plant nursery that is proving vital support to the conservation of the mangrove ecosystem. Once on dry land, you’ll travel by private bus along the coast to Don Diego river where you will stay overnight in an eco lodge.

Day 7: Kayak to a Caribbean beach

Our penultimate day takes place along Don Diego where you will kayak along the river, passing native birds and families of monkeys and eventually reaching a deserted Caribbean beach. Back at the eco lodge, we enjoy our final meal.

Day 8: Departures

We organize transfers for you to Santa Marta’s airport.
