Sustainable Development Goals

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a list of 17 targets that every country needs to achieve by 2030 in order to prevent the biggest problems in the world doing long-lasting, irreversible damage.

The 17 goals were agreed at the 2015 climate agreement in Paris and signed by almost 200 countries.

Kagumu Adventures working towards sustainable development

While each itinerary is tailored to your interest and academic focus, we use our expertise in sustainability to align activities to relevant SDGs.

On a trip with Kagumu, you could visit an organic farm promoting responsible production (SDG 12), meet community leaders spear-heading peace-building projects (SDG 16), explore luscious new rainforest, planted as part of great reforestation efforts (SDG 15), participate in creative workshops run by women-led initiatives (SDG 5) and many, many more.

As a business…

We contribute to two of the SDGs:

SDG 4 –  Quality Education

This is at the core of what we do! Our mission is to give every Kagumu traveler a greater understanding of the SDGs, inspire you to take action and provide you with some of the tools to make long-lasting positive change.

SDG 13 – Climate Change

We have signed the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, are developing a Climate Action Plan to reduce our environmental impact and are supporting two climate-aligned projects by making donations based on our trip emissions. We also send an Impact report after every educational trip to help groups understand the impact of travelling.

Sustainable development goals what you do

And what can you do…

The beauty of the SDGs is that everyone can make a difference. A trip with Kagumu will help inspire you to tackle these goals and offer tools to make your own sustainable choices.
